Original diagnosis/description

Fertile pinnules without leaf lamina, possessing radially symmetrical synangia composed of four sporangia almost completely fused by their margins. Each synangium having basal blister. Spores monolete, with smooth sporoderm.

Etymology

From the Latin acrogenus (formed at the top).
