Original diagnosis/description

Follicle astipitate, narrowly obovate to narrowly ellipsoidal and slightly flattened laterally with the base curved towards the ventral side and rounded apex. Ventral slit extending for the entire length of the follicle and over the topological apex of the follicle. Stigma distinct, double crested, protruding and elliptic at the distal end of the ventral slit. Follicle surface smooth with scattered trichomes and stomata. Follicle wall thick dorsally, thin laterally and ventrally.

Etymology

From Greek referring to the bulky fruit.
