Original diagnosis/description

Staminate flowers typically consisting of five tepals and five stamens. Anthers containing tricolpate, semitectate pollen with fine, closely spaced muri, resulting in a finely striate-rugulate sculpture. Muri parallel-sided in cross section, frequently acute in the upper part.
