Original protologue
Flower bisexual, trimerous with three long tepals in a single whorl, nine stamens and three carpels. Anthers dithecate and tetrasporangiate, elongate,
filament broad. Pollen monocolpate, colpus long, extending almost to the equator. Exine semitectate-reticulate, with a heterobrochate reticulum, rounded muri and short, densely spaced columellae. Colpus margin well-defined psilate. Orbicules irregular, rounded. Ovary superior.
Etymology
In honor of the German palynologist Eckart Schrank in recognition of his important contribution to Cretaceous palynology and Greek: anthos for flower.
