Original diagnosis/description

Rachis system more than the fourth order; aphlebiae developed; pinnules “sphenopteroid”, laminar or deeply laminar lobate; sporangia leptosporangiate, solitary or grouped, free,marginal; annulus lateral of semi-equatorial type; stomium; rounded apical cell; ordinary cells; trilete circular to triangular microspores with laevigate, microgranulate to granulate sculpture.

Etymology

In honour of the famous palaeobotanist Robert Kidston, who in more than 180 scientific papers laid the foundation for a modern taxonomy and palaeobiology of extinct ferns.
