Original diagnosis/description

As for the genus with the following additions: Fruit elongate elliptical in lateral view. Surface of fruit smooth. Stigma restricted. Seeds three. Endotesta and mesotesta of approximately the same thickness. Mesotesta one cell layer thick; cells short, cubic with thick anticlinal cell walls, evenly thickened from inside to outside; anticlinal walls not undulate; inner surface of anticlinal walls rough. Endoreticulate infillings of endotesta cells dense. Endotesta without interspersed cavities. Ovular vascular bundle in testa between mesotesta and endotesta. Testa surrounding micropyle not swollen. Outer epidermis of tegmen with narrow, elongate, thin-walled cells.

Etymology

From the thin testa (Latin tenui [thin, slender] and testa [outer seed coat]).
