Scandianthus costatus E.M.Friis et Skarby

Original diagnosis/description

Flower small, subtended by two bracteoles, actinomorphic and bisexual. Perianth epigynous; sepals five and petals five, both free, aestivation open. Androecium diplostemonous: stamens ten; filament triangular, tapering from the base. Disc prominent, bearing five two-lobed appendages. Gynoecium formed by two fused carpels; ovary inferior and unilocular, styles two, free; placentae two, apical and lateral, pendant; ovules numerous; fruit a capsule with apical dehiscence between the styles; seed anatropous, elongated ellipsoidal.
