Original diagnosis/description

Incubous lateral leaves, each with a subulate lobe at the basal basiscopic margin, resting against the abaxial surface of the lateral leaf, deeply incised underleaves with around five main lobes, often each with accessory lobes.

Etymology

From the Greek ὑ πό (under) and ό νυξ (nail, claw or talon), referring to the underleaves that have the appearance of talons.
