Original diagnosis/description
Pollen cone ovoid, formed by ca. 20 peltate deltoid imbricate microsporophylls, helically arranged; each sporophyll consisting of a stalk and a microsporophyll head bearing four pollen sacs abaxially; microsporophyll heads smooth or finely papillate showing an acute apex fringed with short trichomes, abaxial cuticle bearing stomata in irregular short rows. In situ pollen grains assigned to the sporae dispersae genus Classopollis; pollen spheroidal with flattened polar areas, distinctive subequatorial circular furrow and equatorial band with clearly seen striations, distal cryptopore and distinct proximal tetrad mark; exine with microechinate sculpture.
Etymology
The specificepithet amealensis is derived from the small village of Ameal close to where the microsporangiate cone was collected.
