Original diagnosis/description

Endocarp broad ellipsoid, ca. 10.1 mm long, 3.8–5 mm wide, blunt at base and sharply truncated at apex, with five circular, equally developed pores (fig. 10C9), ca. 0.5mm in diameter, each corresponding to its own elongate locule and surrounding a central vascular canal (fig. 10C14), ca. 0.5 mm in diameter. Apical pit thin walled (0.6 mm thick), 2 mm in diameter. Slight, flattened longitudinalwrinkles present. Faint grooves sometimes apparent near base. Locules cylindrical-pyriform in shape, thickened toward the base and reaching 1.4mmin width.

Etymology

Named after Peter W. Fritsch, who has conducted extensive work on Symplocos.
