Original diagnosis/description
Fibrous endocarp with 5–7 symmetrical locules, each provided with simple, apical opercula (stopper-like plugs), alternating with triangular lacunae; a central vascular system composed of 5–7 bundles, each associated with a distinct locule; each locule containing a reniform seed. Locular envelopes thin, composed of homoge neous and fibrous periclinal cells. Endocarp ovoid to globular, 5.3–8.7 mm long and 6.6–9.3 mm wide. Locules ovoid in transverse section.
Etymology
The epithet “operculata” refers to the presence of simple opercula.
