Original diagnosis/description
Fibrous endocarp with 5–7 symmetrical locules, each provided with simple, apical opercula (stopper-like plugs), alter nating with triangular lacunae; a central vascular system composed of 5–7 bundles, each associated with a distinct locule; each locule taining a reniform seed. Locular envelopes thin, composed of neous and fibrous periclinal cells.
Etymology
“Baraval” refers to the locality where the fossil come from, and “sphaera” indicates the global shape of the fruit.
