Original diagnosis/description

Ovuliferous cone consisting of decussately arranged ovuliferous complexes. Each pair is very closely placed seemingly whorled. Each ovuliferous complex consisting of a bract and ovuliferous cone scale. Ovuliferous scale differentiated into woody basal part and parenchymatous and bulging apical part covering one inverted seed.

Etymology

In honour of Professor Else Marie Friis for her contribution to the study of the Early Cretaceous floras in Portugal.
